Nowadays, more and more people seek to be in harmony with their bodies, inside and out. The most common is to get in shape and consume organic and nutritious food, but over time we are questioning what else we can destroy or use that does not harm us and the environment.
By law, we can already know the origin of the products we eat, where it is detailed what each item has, and the food memorization, but this still does not reach other non-food items, such as clothing, makeup, or implements that we use at home.
And organic and eco-friendly also moved into fashion, where we can already find environmentally friendly clothing, but can this be done with cosmetics?
I have found many international brands, but I recently discovered AGGI, an Ecuadorian brand created by Ana Maria Arteaga in 2015, who questioned the above questions, in addition to knowing the hormonal damage produced by many chemicals present in makeup.
We talked to this entrepreneur, and she told us more about her initiative to create her brand:
Why did you decide to make an organic makeup brand?
From my experience, I began to manifest skin problems due to my allergies to specific compounds in commercial makeup, so I detected a latent need in the niche of people who, like me, have susceptible skin.
How long did it take you to make this project a reality?
The process took me about a year until my first physical product (lipstick). I started with these because they are the most dangerous product to be in contact with our mouths. Then in 2016, I started creating new products to expand the makeup line.
How is your AGGI different from other commercial brands on the market?
Our products differ from commercial ones in that they are made from vegetable oils and waxes, vegan, cruelty-free, and primarily organic. They contain no synthetic fragrances or petroleum products. Our mission is to provide vegan cosmetics without toxic chemicals, which encourage self-care based on self-love and not on rejecting ourselves, away from beauty stereotypes. All products are conceived from a holistic perspective, including essential oils and quartz in our formulas that, in addition to their benefits for the skin, help create a sense of well-being.
Ana María, 37, tells us they currently have an extensive line of makeup: lipsticks, primers, foundations, concealers, loose powder, blush, illuminators and mineral shadows, eyebrow gel, and more. But she hasn’t stopped and started with new self-care lines.
What is the self-care line about?
They are facial and body oils, masks, scrubs, and bath salts, with which we promote our LOVE RITUALS.
Why did you decide to go down this line?
We have launched facial oils because for makeup to look great, it is essential to prepare the skin, to have it hydrated, de-inflamed, and healthy, so we have developed these oils to be used as a primer before makeup and as a treatment at night.
