Jess Pennartz, Ecuadorian by birth, recalls that she started writing for a travel blog in Miami in 2013 but is currently creating her site to cover fashion and lifestyle, as reflected in her Instagram account.
This 26-year-old Girl to Watch has lived in the Netherlands since she was 16 and graduated in International Media and Entertainment Management.
Moda Ahora talked to her, and she told us more about her tastes.
Why did you decide to enter the fashion world?
It was unexpected! I wanted to be a fashion designer a long time ago, but that dream ceased to exist.
When you started your blog, were there already bloggers in the same place you live?
Yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss!!! Good and bad, hahaha
How does fashion develop in the city where you live?
Quickly. I live in The Hague, a city in the south of Holland, and the truth is that it develops according to each season of the year. I have an excuse to renew my closet every 2 or 3 months.
What are the most critical events in the city and the country?
Amsterdam Fashion Week on a national level, but there are smaller events that serve to meet designers or engage with other influencers.
Has your blog opened doors to getting to know new cities?
Definitely, in my city and outside of it too. Other countries too.
How do brands and designers treat bloggers in your city/country?
Brands come and go here. We are used to combining cheap with high-end; nobody judges your style here. Everything is accepted (apparently).
What else do you do besides blogging (work)?
I work in the customer service area at Ticketmaster.
Have you heard about Latin American fashion? What things?
Tiny, because I came to live in Holland 10 years ago, and at 16 years old, when I was still living in Fue, I didn’t care about how I dressed (unfortunately).
What are the activities that help you stand out the most?
I like to meet other bloggers; I enjoy collaborating with people with the same tastes as me and learning from them.
What do you like most about fashion?
The glasses!
How would you define your look?
Feminine, seriously girly!!!
What do you want to project with this one?
More than anything, I want to be comfortable!
What is the must-have accessory in every fashion lover’s closet?
Lately kimonos. But also comfortable shoes.
What would you recommend to people when dressing?
They should look for something they feel comfortable in, and their outfit should match the occasion.
What are the following plans for your blog?
I want to travel!!! So I will try my best to travel and write more and more.
